Resources and ingredients
There are four basic Printer Resources: Synthetics, Electronics, Chemicals and Metals. Loot is broken down into them automatically as you pick it up, and they do not take up stash slots. On top of those, recipes call for 3D Printer Ingredients of different rarities. Examples named by Activision include Binding Catalyst (Rare), Biomaterials, Reactive Metals and Rigid Synthetics (Uncommon), Detonators, Control Units and Alloyed Plating. Killing a Commander and extracting is one source of prized ingredients.
How to unlock more recipes
- DMZ Progression awards key Printer Recipes as you level from 1 to 70.
- Recipes found in Hajin are consumed when you extract, unlock permanently and pay 5,000 DMZ Cash.
- Upgrading the printer lets you craft rarer ingredients yourself.
- The printer screen gives hints about where particular materials are most likely to be found; use them to plan a route on the MW4 DMZ map.
What the printer makes, and what it does not
Recipe categories are Upgrades, Consumables, Plate Carriers, Backpacks, Tacticals, Lethals, Field Upgrades, Fire Support, Gear and Ingredients, and you can track a recipe so you know what to loot. The printer also upgrades FOB stations: Bank, Stash caps, MIA Recovery discounts, Dog Tag Case slots, Gunsmith discounts and Vendor options. It does not make guns: weapons come from loot, the Vendor, or the Gunsmith after you extract a Weapon Manual.
